Description
Dr. Susan S. McKinney, JHS 265 is currently a 6-8 grade Title 1 school, located in the Fort Greene section of Brooklyn in Community School District 13. As part of the Middle School initiatives, the school has been divided into subschools monitored by either a teacher-coordinator and or a supervisor.

Satellite West (offsite) is an accelerated academic program for gifted students who require a small setting. Students who are academically and emotionally ready are administered New York state Regents exams in Sequential 1 Mathematics and biology in grade 8.

 

 Resources

In November, 1998, we received a New Vision Mini Grant to develop a math manipulative mini-lab. This award was for $ 2,000.

In November, 1998, JHS 265 became a recipient of the 21st Learning Community Learning Center Grant which awarded the school $ 600,000,

In February, 1999,we became the recipient of a Project JUMP Grant which awarded the school $ 200.000.

An additional resource has been our Teachers’ Center, which has been a catalyst in working in harmony with the staff and supporting school initiatives for staff and students.
